ADAMA, in conjunction with the Lod Municipality, the Lod Foundation and the Ministry of Education, inaugurated a scientific research greenhouse in the city of Lod, Israel - a project involving an investment of over one million shekels. This is the third greenhouse of its kind in Israel operated by ADAMA. The new scientific research greenhouse in Lod was established as part of ADAMA’s flagship community program, “Scattering Seeds of Science”, which stems from ADAMA’s vision of advancing agriculture while investing in learning infrastructure in the educational system.

Thousands of students visit the farms each week, benefiting from experiential learning and partnering in development work and scientific research that integrate scientific research with finding tangible solutions to problems through the use of innovative technological tools, under the supervision of the educational staff at the farm, content experts from the academic world and volunteer employees from ADAMA.

The research greenhouse in Lod covers an area of 250 square meters and serves as a laboratory for agricultural and environmental studies and enrichment of the school curriculum, imparting research skills and conducting research that allows students to achieve results that are based on research work in the field. Among its other features, the greenhouse includes climate and irrigation control that enables the students to study plants in different growing conditions – temperatures, varying light intensity, land types, etc. The various data and metrics obtained in experiments in the greenhouse are automatically transferred to the adjacent computerized classroom.

Aviram Lahav, CFO of ADAMA, said: “As part of ADAMA’s social concept, we invest in programs that further education in Israel, mainly in fields of study that are aligned with our industrial and business operations in chemistry and agriculture. Thanks to the company’s flagship program for the establishment of the scientific greenhouses, agriculture on the highest of levels is made accessible to school students, providing a unique educational opportunity for an in-depth acquaintance with the agricultural sciences and their important contribution to tackling the global food challenge.”
